Weaver is a C library and framework designed to develop games. It was written by Thiago "Harry" Leucz Astrizi and licensed under the GPL version 3.0 or newer.

The framework is formed by a script responsible for generating new projects, generate new code automatically for new projects, create new modules for existing games and manage Makefiles automatically. It also uses the Weaver API with usefull functions for draw and blit pixmaps, loads PNG images, play Ogg Vorbis files, and handle vector's rotation and collision detection.

As the Weaver API is made using low-level libraries as Xlib and ALSA library, the games, after compiled, usually don't require the installation of dependencies.
NetHack is a rogue-like game. The latest version of the game is 3.6.0 released on December 7, 2015. It is licensed under the General Public License.

Gameplay
The player moves in turns in a dungeon, finding items and killing monsters to retrieve the fabled amulet of Yendor.

Nethack has a high replay value as every game is unique; essentially every level is randomly generated, items and treasure are randomly placed with unique and functional descriptions, and monsters are generated continually and randomly. There are thirteen different roles, 5 different races, and 3 different alignments.
Nethack is extremely difficult, nearly impossible. The vast majority of its players have never beaten the game.
History
See release history for more details.

The most popular variant of Nethack is SLASH'EM (Super Lotsa Added Stuff Hack - Extended Magic). It features many new monsters, roles, races, items, levels, etc. It is also considered much more difficult than the original Nethack.

Another popular variant is the graphical Falcon's Eye. Cultivation is a 2D life simulation game created by Jason Rohrer. The game was a Slamdance Guerilla Gamemaker Competition 2007 finalist. The game has been released into the public domain. The source code is available on the homepage so it is free software. All game content is generated procedurally at runtime. The latest version of the game is version 8 released on August 9th, 2007. It uses the GLUT library.
Gameplay
The player is a gardener in a community of gardeners. The player (and the other gardeners) possess some seeds, of which there may be several kinds, depending on how much humidity they need.

After a seed is planted, it needs to be watered once or twice before the plant blooms and produces fruits. The fruits can be eaten, or given as gifts to other gardeners (which makes the relationship between them better).

Each gardener has 3 colour parameters, which lessen with time, and the gardener will die of starvation unless they eat fruits of that colour. Eating a fruit gives a seed to plant.

Gardeners over time, like any other organisms, age. Eventually they will die of old age. To continue the game, a player must have an offspring to assume control over after the gardener he/she is currently controlling dies. In order to get offspring, a gardener must give one other gardener seeds. Once the affection is high enough, it become possible to mate. After mating, each partner have an offspring.

When the gardener you control dies, you moved on to the offspring, and then their offspring. If you reach the most recent generation and failed to breed, you will not have an offspring to move on to. When your gardener die without an offspring, the game is effectively over.

Conflicts arise from land use issues and harvesting resources that others have planted, leading to a tragedy of the commons. Eventually, it leads gardeners to poison the land in retaliation. This poses a threat to the population since as the land gets poisoned, there is less land available for farming. Less land for farming mean the island can't support as many gardeners. If enough land are poisoned, then it cannot support any population of gardeners.

He co-founded and heads the game development team HoleInTheHeadStudios, which competes in the bi-annual PyWeek programming competition.

Games
Roe is a hobbyist developer, but has created numerous small open-source games.

He is currently working on the GalaxyMage Redux project, as a lead programmer.

Trivia
While Roe's official nickname is RB[0], due to technical limitations, many environments do not allow this user-name.

He uses RoeBros on sites where there is a minimum number of characters - like gmail, RB0 for sites that don't allow brackets but have no size limitations - like IPB forum boards, and he uses RB[0] for everything else.

Which game did he start? List plz. --Qubodup 00:43, 27 August 2007 (CEST)

Sorry, forgot to add them earlier.
I created Eskimo-Run, SearchForTheRedHerring, MagicGardenersTournament and StarPynguin. --RB0 18:19, 26 August 2007 (GMT-6)

Also, please make clear what the correct names are, is it MagicGardenersTournament or Magic Gardeners Tournament, is it Eskimo-Run or Eskimo-run? Remember that you cannot post 'news' like the decision that you changed the names or the names are this and that on this wiki, maybe you can post it on your forum, so it is clear? --Qubodup 02:07, 27 August 2007 (CEST)

Okay, the names are 'Magic Gardeners Tournament', "Search for the Red Herring", "Star Pynguin" and "Eskimo-Run", I only used the other names because I didn't know the wiki would handle sapces in the names until after I created them, I will change them around to fit correctly if I can, otherwise guess I just put more in your laps, sorry :/ --RB0 20:30, 26 August 2007 (GMT-6)
:Hehe, it is RB Zero, forgot about that. I got my nickname because years ago when I originally became active in the open-source scene it was me and my bro's, all together. Then when I went off on my own I changed it to RB[0], ie the first roebro :) I'll add this later, or you can if you want RB0 22:28, 26 November 2007 (CET)
:::Ah, ok, I meant the spelling, I was trying to figure out what you meant by pronunciation, doh! :) It is actually undefined, I often just say "oh" when I'm talking about zero, so sometimes people call me "Robo" but it doesn't really matter, however you pronounce zero is what you say :) RB0 22:31, 27 November 2007 (CET)
Bouncy the hungry rabbit was written by Richard T. Jones for PyWeek and designed it so that it could be enjoyed by his 3 year old daughter, hence it isn't violent. This also means that easy is very easy and hard is very challenging.

Gameplay
The player is a hungry rabbit on a farm, and he/she is trying to eat the farmer's crops, understandably the farmer doesn't want the player to eat them, and will attempt to hunt him/her down and eat him/her in a rabbit pie.
Terminal Overload (abbreviated TOL) is an experimental online multiplayer first-person shooter game. It is the free and open-source spiritual successor to Revenge Of The Cats: Ethernet and is currently in an early stage of development.

The source code is licensed under the MIT license and all media assets are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.

TOL's game logic is written in TorqueScript. The engine is a modified version of the MIT-licensed Torque3D game engine, which is written in C++.

Gameplay
Terminal overload is a fast team based multiplayer shooter with lots of air time in an open, low-gravity environment.

TOL has a unique feature that sets it apart from other arena shooters in the form of Ethernet mode. Ethernet mode is a combination of territory control with a creative spawning mechanic. The game also features Team Elimination mode, where players fight until only players from one team are still standing.

The game features multiple classes. Each class comes with its own set of weapons, drawbacks and advantages. Special weapons are target seeking "discs" that require a lock on enemy players, as well as the B.O.U.N.C.E. mechanism that pushes nearby but fast moving enemies far away. Players also need to keep an eye on their "anchoring" in order to not get blown away too far from incoming projectiles.

Ethernet mode
Ethernet mode is the unique mode of play that Terminal Overload is best known for.

In Ethernet mode the map is divided into several zones arranged in a linear manner, the first and last few of which are controlled by the two opposing teams. The goal of each round is to capture all zones on the map. Zones can only be captured in normal form ("CAT form"; a reference to the <code>cat</code> utility in Unix).

Players don't die, but switch to etherform when out of health. In etherform, players can only recharge their health and damage damper and respawn as a class of their chocie. Switching back to CAT form is only possible inside a team zone.

Development
Terminal Overload is the result of a successful Indiegogo campaign to resurrect Revenge Of The Cats: Ethernet as an open-source project which raised $1697. ROTC:E was based on the now-defunct Torque Game Engine (TGE) so it shares almost no code with the Torque3D-based Terminal Overload.

The name was proposed by forum user and donor Evropi chosen after a donors' poll on April 3rd, 2014.

There can be multiple testing releases before a full release is made; for instance, there were four release candidates before version 0.3.0 was released. Testing releases are public and complemented with with regular playtesting sessions, arranged either on the forum or on the game's IRC channel.

TOL is primarily developed by its original author, Michael "fr1tz" Goldener, with some contributions from the open source community.

Funding
Development of Terminal Overload is funded through Patreon/Gratipay donations to fr1tz, as well as nick registrations for the player database.
I am Harmen van der Wal and I wrote this game. I don't know about JamVM, but the game works for me on SableVM 1.13 on Debian ("free-java-sdk") except for the audio. The problem is Java 1.1 supports getAudioClip for applets, but not newAudioClip for applications. On other Java 1.1 implementations you can use the appletviewer if need be, but free-java-sdk doesn't include one. I made sure it still compiles with free-java-sdk though, by using reflection. Anyway, if you're using free-java-sdk, hopefully you'll get by without audio. And please let me know about other problems I am unware of, particularly with free Java implementations. --213.84.77.130 on 2008-07-23T18:31:08
Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection is a collection of multi-platform single-player puzzle games written mostly by Simon Tatham and licensed under the Expat license. Numpty Physics is a drawing puzzle game, where the goal is to draw shapes on a drawing to get two given objects to touch.

Gameplay
Each stroke behaves like a rigid piece of wire. Its mass is proportional to the length of the stroke. Wires can be bent into shapes by closing a stroke. Such figures do not have substance apart from its perimeter.

Pivots are created by drawing another stroke near the end of an existing stroke. Levers and pendulums can be created using pivots.

Developers / availability
The game is written by Tim Edmonds in C++ using the Box2D physics engine. There is also a package of user-submitted levels, called “NP-complete”.
Me and My Shadow is a platform and puzzle game in which the player's shadow plays an important role. The game uses only monochrome colours, fitting the shadow-theme. There is set of tutorial levels which explain the controls, tactics and puzzles elements.

Game play
The goal of the game is to reach the exit in each level. Certain obstacles and puzzle elements can only be conquered by working together with the player's shadow. Therefore the player can record his movements by pressing <kbd>Space</kbd>. Pressing <kbd>Space</kbd> again will let the shadow perform those movements. Each level can be repeated indefinitely by either dying or restarting it by pressing <kbd>r</kbd>.

The player can jump one block high. But by standing on the head of the shadow, two block high walls can be reached.

Puzzle elements
; Exist : The exit looks like a door.
; Blocks : Both player and shadow can walk on normal blocks
; Shadow blocks : Only the shadow can walk on shadow blocks, the normal player just falls through them
; Fragile blocks: Repeatedly jumping on fragile blocks will destroy them
; Spikes : Spikes are deadly, don't touch them
; Teleporters : Teleportes can be used to beam to an connected teleporter elsewhere in the level
; Swap : Will trade places between player and shadow

History
The development started in April 2009 by Luka Horvat as a Windows games. In January 2011, Omer Bahri Gordebak announced his plans to build a clone which resulted in the release of the source code by Horvat under the GNU GPL.. It is now maintained by Edward Lii.

Hypercube is a golf-like puzzle game around a tesseract (4D hypercube), written in Java by Harmen van der Wal. The latest version is 1.6, released on 2008-07-28.

Gameplay
The aim is to kick the ball into the target 5 times using the cursor. The ball reflects from the transparent walls of the body.

There is a timer, which falls down some points if the cursor hits a wall.

After hitting the target, a new target has to be earned by moving the cursor through the window (the smaller green thing) out of the cube and then back in (the window will change its position). There is a smaller ball moving around the cube, which the cursor must not touch white outside.

There are 4D, 3D, and 2D modes.

Platform
The game seems to work with OpenJDK 6b10, but not JamVM 1.5.1 or SableVM 1.13 on Debian.

Stendhal is a fully open source multiplayer online adventure game (MMORPG) written in Java, using the Arianne game development system. The game (server, client, graphics, everything) is licensed under the GPL. Even though Stendhal is still heavily under development (it is on the top 50 most active projects hosted on SourceForge), it is fully playable.

Krakow Online was developed based on Stendhal

Objectives and game play
As a typical multiplayer online adventure game Stendhal features a rich world in which players can fight monsters and explore towns, buildings, plains, caves and dungeons. By fighting monsters and completing quests provided by NPCs player gain experience and money. The money can be used to buy new items and improve the armor and weapons. Gaining experience allows the players to fight stronger monsters and explore more parts of the world.

History
In 2005 initial release of Stendhal.

In 2006 the world expanded quickly as new features were added to the game.

In 2007 a new website was created which includes information from the game, like item stats and a hall of fame.

In 2008 Krakow Online was developed based on Stendhal.

Cities
; Semos City : Semos City is the town the workers of the nearby semos quarry once settled. It is populated by 40-50 persons. The defenses of Semos is now abandoned and moved to the capital Denirian. Semos' current weak state have forced them to make an emergency notice about heroes wanted in the help of town defense.

; Semos Village : Semos Village is the ancient town of Semos. It is now mostly abandoned, as most people moved to the newly founded City of Semos in the east. Nishiya the sheep seller, however, still lives here. Semos Village is the place where new players start the game.

; Ados : The rich coast city Ados is in a food crisis right now, since the farm town Semos is suffering constant attacks from monsters and thieves. Ados now pays high fees to good heroines and heroes that can help protect the town Semos and the food caravans that go between Semos and Ados.

: Near Ados there is a haunted area where a famous battle took place. The area is now populated by some spirits of those who died there. Take care because they don't rest in peace.

; Nalwor : Nalwor is the main city of the elfs located south east of Semos in the Nalwor Forest. Be careful as elfs do not like humans and the soldiers will attack everyone they spot. The civils elfs living there, however, may sell valuable items even to humans.

Development
Stendhal is developed as a total open source project. This means that unlike other games the source code for both the the client and the server is available. Because of its history the Stendhal projects is very skeptical about graphics found on the net that claim to be free. Therefore most of the art work is original.

The development of Stendhal is coordinated using the bug tracker offered by Source Forge and the IRC channel [irc://irc.freenode.net/#arianne #arianne] on freenode. People willing to contribute can do this in a number of ways, starting from reporting bugs and ideas about new features, keeping the documentation in the wiki up to date, to contributing graphics and code.

Stendhal is using release early, release often approach which lead to release roughly every four weeks. For every release a branch is created in the CVS repository. Starting with the day of the release, only serious bugs are fixed there. So people running their own server should monitor the branch for the version they are running.

Allacrost's main design goals are:
# Emulate the look and feel of the current generation of games while still being original.
# Create a free role-playing game, which can played by an amount of people as large as possible. This means that it must have low hardware requirements, support Linux, Windows and Mac OSX and be available in multiple languages.
# Focus on gameplay and story, not on graphic effects.
# Dispense with time-wasting gameplay elements (micromanagement) which other RPGs often contain.
# Be intellectually challenging.
