Development
Developers
The development team consists of numerous developers, along with contributors which are too many to name here.

Gameplay
Similar to the original game, FreeCol involves building up a strong economy while defending it with a decent military.

To win FreeCol, the player must either defeat all the other players or start a revolution and defend his/her colony against his/her former country.

Terrain types determine what kind of resources your colony can produce. The tile that the colony is located on will produce resources automatically with no colonists. For example, a forest will produce woods and furs while grassland is suitable for farming. However, a forest is limited in capacity as far as food production is concerned. The player can also improve the terrain by plowing or building roads. Plowing improves the productive capacity of farming while roads improve the productivity of mining.

The player will also need to balance food production, and produce liberty bells, among other factors. If, for example, the player does not have enough food, his/her colonists will starve. Not enough liberty bells will eventually lead to more "tories", which means the player will be further away from his/her goal of independence from their monarch.

Towns can be upgraded through time, with the necessary wood and tools. For example, they can eventually be upgraded to forts, shipyards, and other buildings.

Natives can be valuable trade partners, or hostile enemies.

History
See release history.

Clients
Freeciv can be played via different clients, the majority of which are in an early stage of development.
*Freeciv-gtk2, currently the official and most stable client.
*Freeciv-sdl, also official, but yet unstable.

Gameplay
There are several ways to win a Freeciv game. The simplest is to wipe out all the enemy players. Another option is to become the first to colonize space. There is also a time limit, so if after a certain amount of time has gone by and no one has won, the player with the highest score wins by default.

Freeciv can use three sets of rules: the standard Freeciv rules, the Civilization II rules, and the Civilization I rules. However, the basic gameplay stays the same.

Development history
On November 14, 1995, the Freeciv project started, to replace the broken Openciv. The original developers were Claus Leth Gregersen, Allan Ove Kjeldbjerg, and Peter Joachim Unold. Gregersen coded the game mechanics, Unold wrote the client architecture, and Kjeldbjerg provided the graphics.

However, when the game approached playability, they lost interest and moved on to playing the game XPilot. Since then, a great number of new developers and contributors have allowed the project to grow.

Version history
We have documented that The Freeciv project have a long and extensive release history.

Receptions
As of September 29, 2007, Freeciv received 4.62 points out of 5 based on 120 votes on The Linux Game Tome.

Freeciv on the web
Freeciv can now also played online on Freeciv.net. This project has developed a rich web client using AJAX, Javascript and the HTML5 standard based on the existing Freeciv C codebase. It was playable on most modern web browsers which support HTML5. Andreas Røsdal decided to shutdown the Freeciv.net project, and it went offline in July 2011.
The game is licensed under a 2-clause license similar to The FreeBSD Copyright, but does not include the last paragraph about views and conclusions.

Gameplay
The game essentially follows the gameplay of the early Tetris games by Nintendo, with the classic modes A- and B-type (marathon and line clear). However, in vitetris there is a short delay before the piece is locked (after it has landed), which makes it possible to play at higher levels.

Two-player battles can be played on the same computer or over network. When clearing several lines at once, garbage is sent to the opponent.
Development history
John Croisant wrote the library in response to his dislike of availible ruby libraries, RUDL and Ruby/SDL. He considered RUDL too messy and Ruby/SDL too low level. He had already tried to improve RUDL, but was repelled by the unorganized codebase so he decided to fork Ruby/SDL and add his own code. It became Rubygame. The SCM the rubygame project used to be subversion, then the project eventually moved to git.

Croisant stepped down in October 24th, 2008 as lead maintainer of the project and is looking for a maintainer to take over project development. In February 2009, He decided to only do maintenance on Rubygame.
It featured the new mixin module NamedResource, which managed the storage of resources such as sounds, musics, and games for later use. It also autoload these resources on demand. In addition, the Sound and Musics classes, which promise many improvements over the Mixer class, are replacing the now depreciated Mixer class.
Community
There was an unofficial developer forum dedicated to rubygame called Rubygame Forums. It also hosted the first two RubyWeekend contests, which took place on June 13th, 2008 and July 27th, 2008 respectively. However, due to the forum inactivity and the absence of the owner, Jacius decided to host his own Rubygame forum at the rubygame.org website.

Biniax is a puzzle arcade game by Jordan Tuzsuzov. The code is distributed under the license, and data under a Creative Commons Attribution license.

Versions
There are a few versions:
* Biniax (Classic) — the original version
* Biniax Mobile — a Java version for cellphones
* Biniax-2 — a refurbished Biniax, supporting multiplayer.

Gameplay
The player controls an element of some color. A mass of pairs of elements comes from above.

The player’s element can collide with a pair which contains an element of the same color, which causes the two elements of the same color to disappear, and the player’s element is replaced with the other element from the pair. This is called “taking the pair”.

In the mass of pairs, there are empty spaces and places that cannot be gone through.

Sometimes, a whole column can be cleared. Then it can be done quickly using the Space key.

The game ends when the mass or another player’s element crushes the player’s element against the bottom.
