Mahjong solitaire games are a type of tile-matching puzzle using Mahjong tiles. This should not be confused with the traditional Mahjong game.

The general rules of Mahjong solitaire are as follows:

The player plays on a board of Mahjong tiles laying on a table. Each Mahjong tile shows a picture. The tiles are arranged on a grid, and tiles may also lie on top of each other. The goal is to remove all tiles by matching pairs until the board is cleared or no more moves are available. Two tiles can be matched if both tiles are equivalent, no tile is on top of them and either the left or right side of both of them is not blocked by another tile. Two tiles are equivalent if they either show the same picture, or both tiles represent seasons, or both tiles represent flowers.
