Some words about libre-ness[edit]

So this article is currently making a false claim about its libreness. It implies it is currently no longer a libre game. Or at least it's highly misleading. So it seems there's a lot of confusion here.

The 2010 controversy was basically only about naming rights in the end. The libre-ness of the original libre Nexuiz was never touched (thankfully). In other words, the original Nexuiz is still 100% libre and playable. You will find it in many GNU/Linux distributions (even the strict ones that only accept 100% libre games like Parabola GNU/Linux-libre).

To summarize:

  • Nexuiz, from 2005, by AlienTrap is the original, libre version and is still libre and playable today. Online, too. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bctaZIuz57Q
  • Nexuiz, from 2012, by IllFonic is the PROPRIETARY remake (at least that's what they say) of the original. It's basically a completely different game. I personally don't even think it can be considered remake, it looks so different. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdBsQ18MrUQ

So I hope this clears up some of the confusion. --Wuzzy (talk) 21:58, 25 June 2019 (CEST)

New fork[edit]

In August 2019, I have randomly found the signs of existence of another fork of Nexuiz, which is intended to preserve and bugfix Nexuiz Classic. It is called Rexuiz. However, it is notable today by using a fork of DarkPlaces by RocketMinsta project. The project is hosted on GitHub by kasymovga (https://github.com/kasymovga/rexuiz). --46.180.242.9 10:15, 23 September 2019 (CEST)
