Spam problems[edit]

I dunno what you think of this, but I reckon you should give User:RB0 powers todelete pages, as with all thespam, then surely instead of adding cat articles flagged for spam he could delete it?

Just suggesting, and it might make it easier for you. -- JohnJ 16:39, 29 December 2007 (CET)

Kiba, I think the amount of non-registered contributions is THAT low and the spam is THAT annoying, that it makes sense to prohibit non-registered users to edit pages (at least prohibit to create new pages) --Qubodup 14:47, 30 December 2007 (CET)
I'll second Qubodup on that, but, only during this period of spam, as many non-registered users have useful contributions -- JohnJ 14:49, 30 December 2007 (CET)
And Kiba wants to cause as little inconvinience as possible -- JohnJ 15:20, 30 December 2007 (CET)
Did you consider ? You can make it ask a text-based captcha (e.g. who wrote the GPL) with a regexp answer. It worked pretty well everywhere I installed it.Beuc 17:54, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Check this cat Qubodup made: Category:Articles flagged for deletion, review reason in it, and delete it, as this then does not only require spam. -- JohnJ 15:22, 30 December 2007 (CET)

Article Policy[edit]

Where has the file gone kiba? I can't see it anywhere? -- JohnJ 09:59, 2 January 2008 (CET)

Libregamewiki:Article policy--Kiba 13:21, 2 January 2008 (CET)
I know its there, I mean where is the link, btw this is John -- 13:27, 2 January 2008 (CET)
No idea--Kiba 15:53, 2 January 2008 (CET)
Not sure what you mean but look: Special:Whatlinkshere/Libregamewiki:Article_policy --Qubodup 12:19, 4 January 2008 (CET)

Installing extensions[edit]

Kiba, please install Extension:Parser function extensions, so I can create flexible templates (eg. which won't contain a field for "license" if it is not given) --Qubodup 12:19, 4 January 2008 (CET)

Why did you delete that redirect? All the other peeps nicks redirected to their article -- JohnJ 10:32, 26 January 2008 (CET)

I thought it is my userpage.--Kiba 15:25, 26 January 2008 (CET)
What about when Roots blanked his page? And anyway your nick is said on the page about you, so why delete the redirect? -- JohnJ 16:57, 26 January 2008 (CET)
I already provided a simple explanation. Do you have to make it more complicated than it really is?--Kiba 17:20, 26 January 2008 (CET)

Edit Barrier[edit]

We've broken the 7000 edit barrier, yay! -- JohnJ 10:44, 26 January 2008 (CET)

I'm sure we broke another edit barrier - but that isn't teh big news :D Look! we have 300 pages now :D W00T!!!!!!! --RB0 17:43, 6 May 2008 (CEST) That's 300 articles. We have far more pages than that.--Kiba 00:59, 15 May 2008 (CEST)

How would one go about translating libregamewiki? --frab26 12:47, 14 May 2008

I would set up a separate wiki for that. It wouldn't be dependent on the English Libregamewiki for its content though. There may be original articles in that language that is not yet found in English and vice versa. But first, I want to know what language edition you want to set up before moving on.--Kiba 00:58, 15 May 2008 (CEST)
French? -- JohnJ 16:57, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
You are fluent in French, John?--Kiba 23:03, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Not great, but not awful -- JohnJ 16:40, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm still here and...[edit]

I think that it would be useful to note awards etc. that a game has had on its page or something.

e.g. January 2008 LXF Hotstuff

Also how is the german LGW getting on? JohnJ 12:48, 26 May 2008 (CEST)

Hello, im Bayo. I loose my password, but i can't generate another one, sending it to my by mail. Can you do it, or allowing this option if its possible ? Thanks a lot. -- 07:43, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

I dont know if I dont see the option before, or if you allow it... thanks anyway. Bayo 12:08, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello. If you think IP are robots, maybe a nice thing will be to install a real katcha instead of a 56 + 3 check. I see real katcha on Wikipedia, so MediaWiki may have it. Bayo 15:29, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Quotes vs search[edit]

“This phrase” won't be shown in search results for “This”, but "This phrase" will. Maybe there is a setting for that… --AVRS 20:12, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

User talk:Mclaud2000[edit]

>It's not good idea to copy content wholesale from the developer's website. It's copyright infringement.--Kiba 04:11, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello Kiba, I will fix the pages I edited with the proper references. Thanks for the advice! --Mclaud2000 Done, I checked all the articles I contributed and edited all the parts that could possibly infringe the developer's website copyright. --Mclaud2000

Licensing question[edit]

Hi Kiba! Can you help with this? I.e. can CC-BY-SA images be included. GNUbie 08:26, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

I've added "Text". I don't remember any serious discussion of the screenshot licensing conflicting with that. Note that there are GPL screenshots, too. --AVRS 09:49, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

What's going on with PokerTH? Can't edit it or use the talk page. I'm getting a HTML 403. GNUbie 12:47, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

That's caused by an anti-spam tool enabled on the server. --AVRS 09:40, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Could you add a screenshot from ? The CSS for the PokerTH page doesn't seem to work for me, I only see the bare HTML. GNUbie 16:56, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

A spammer[edit]

@ GNUbie 16:55, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Blocked. --AVRS 15:48, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Ouch, you're getting pounded by spambots[edit]

I think you can safely delete/block everything that happened between now and the article edit I made two days ago. Have you looked into a better captcha on the account creation page? 17:34, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Swamped in spam[edit]

Hi there! Copy/pasting this message to all admins here. I was recently made an admin around here and was mostly deleting and blocking. But now the volume is in hundreds daily, so it's no longer doable. We must urgently change something or even sadly lock up this wiki or it will very soon became an unusable spam gallery. Please reply here Thespamissue. Thank you. GNUbie 08:59, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
