The Gambas Arcade Engine is a 2D game engine written by Piga Software aimed at the construction of principally single-screen games using the Gambas picture box (or label) control. These underlying techniques may then be paired with the Gambas Tile System for games with more complicated 2D worlds using the drawing area control, which the original incarnation used for all elements due to lack of picturebox transparency in earlier graphical toolkits. It is primarily geared towards using Qt 5, but can also be used with GTK 3, with games controlled with either the keyboard, mouse, or combination therein. Scrolling can be implemented using the panel control, though off-screen is more commonly handled using wraparounds. A partial conversion of the engine for Lazarus has been attempted using GTK 2.
