Mindustry is an RTS tower defense factory game. It started as a winning entry in 2017 GDL Metal Monstrosity Jam. [1]
The game supports LAN and online multiplayer. [2]
Gameplay[edit]
Apart from the classic tower defense mechanics, the game adds resource gathering and processing.
From a top-down perspective the player controls a variety of specialized robots. Most of the time, however, is spent by building a fortress whose goal is to protect the core from incoming waves of enemies. There are over a hundred blocks the player can build, such as drills that mine resources, belts that move them to the core, and towers that attack enemies. Some resources have to be combined in order to create new ones, e.g. coal and sand into silicon. When the player dies, they respawn at the core.
There are four game modes:
mode | resources | wave start | primary enemy type |
---|---|---|---|
Survival | mined | countdown | drop point |
Sandbox | unlimited | manual | none |
Attack | mined | none/countdown | enemy AI core |
PvP | mined | none/countdown | enemy player core |
