Flare: Empyrean Campaign is a free game. This means that the source code and media files are available to be studied, modified, and distributed. Most projects look for help with testing, documentation, graphics, etc., as well.

Flare: Empyrean Campaign is an action RPG set in a medieval fantasy world in which the protagonist is banished from their homeland of Empyrean and must prove their worth to escape damnation.

Gameplay[edit]

In the beginning of the game, the player gets to choose what class the in-game character should have. Each class has different starting abilities and skills (such as Strength, Health, Magic and Damage Absorption). As the player completes missions and defeats enemies, the character will receive experience-points and level up. Levelling up will allow the player to improve stats, skills and abilities of the character.

By completing missions and looting dead enemies, the player can collect gold and dropped equipment. The gold can be used to purchase new equipment, weapons and armour at different traders, and unwanted item drops may be sold to them as well.

How to obtain[edit]

This game requires Flare to run. It is considered to be the “main” game for FLARE at the moment and is usually distributed together with Flare. Chances are, if you installed Flare, you probably already have the game, too.

Flare and this game can be obtained from the homepage.

YouTube has a trailer for version 1.15 here.

  1. README. Note the game mostly consists of data files rather than code (apart from a few scripts), which explains why there isn’t really a dedicated “code license”. The bulk of the code that makes this game work lies in Flare, which is separate.
