Snelps is a free game. This means that the source code is available to be studied, modified, and distributed. Most projects look for help with testing, documentation, graphics, etc., as well.

Snelps is a real-time strategy game developed by Shawn Anderson. It uses the Rubygame library with the Rubygoo GUI Library and is written in the Ruby programming language.[1] The source code is licensed under the LGPL.[2]

Currently it uses the Globulation 2 data as a placeholder for its graphics, but there is a fundraising effort by Shawn so that artists can be paid to contribute replacement graphics to the project. The current graphics should be phased out as soon as artists start work.[3] There is also a GraphicsNeeded page detailing what artwork is needed and what needed to be replaced.[4]
