|Pingus is a free game. This means that the source code is available to be studied, modified, and distributed. Most projects look for help with testing, documentation, graphics, etc., as well.|
Pingus is a clone of the proprietary puzzle game Lemmings, but makes use of penguins. The game uses SDL, however it once used ClanLib. The entire game, including its media are licensed under the GNU General Public License.
The player sees the game from a side view. Its levels consist of a starting point, obstacles and an exit. To win a level, a specific amount of penguins has to reach the exit. To overcome the obstacles the player can assign jobs to single penguins, like building a bridge or digging a hole. When the player does not assign the penguins with tasks, they keep walking forward.
