L'Abbaye des Morts is a free game. This means that the source code is available to be studied, modified, and distributed. Most projects look for help with testing, documentation, graphics, etc., as well.

L'Abbaye des Morts is a 2D exploration platformer made by Locomalito, released in 2010. Its code was rewritten and open sourced by MoonWatcher, spawning ports to many platforms such as GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, Wii, ZX Spectrum, C64, PSP, XBox, Nintendo 3DS and Pokitto.[2][3] Because the media is released under CC-BY license, the game is completely libre.

The game features two sets of graphics to choose from – an oldschool, low color one, and a new, high-color refined set.[4]

Plot[edit]

The plot is set in 13th century. The player takes a role of Jean Raymond – one of clerics who preached about the poverty of Christ and a life without material aspirations, and who were for this reason treated as heretics by the Catholic Church.

Jean is running away from crusaders who want him dead. He finds an old church and decides to hide there. He doesn't know what ancient evils hide in that place.
