Liquid War 5 is a tactical action game that involves blobs of liquids written by Christian Mauduit. It is licensed under the GPLv2 (or later). Liquid War 6 is its official successor.

Gameplay[edit]

Players compete for domination over a 2D world by controlling the flow of liquids. Each player’s liquid has its own color. Players move the cursor to tell “their” liquid where to flow. They must attack the other liquids to consume them while avoiding being consumed themselves. There are no weapons, powerups or other special things, the only thing that players can do it move their cursor.

Each liquid consists of about hundreds or thausands of small squares, called “fighters”. Each fighter tries to find the shortest path to the cursor (even when the path is blocked by other fighters). When opposing fighters meet, they fight each other and lose health. The losing fighter will join the other army. Fighters never die, so the number of total fighters on the map always stays the same. When fighters of the same color stick to each other, they regenerate health.

The game can be won in two ways: 1) Consume all the other armies and become the last player standing 2) Have the largest army after the end of a time limit.
