Action.png

In action games, reaction-time and hand–eye coordination are the main challenges. Action games generally have a fast-paced gameplay. This genre is very broad and should usually be chosen when other, more specific genres (like Racing games) do not fit.

There is significant overlap with Arcade games.

It is to feature a little boy building a makeshift air cannon from spare parts only to terrorize his older sister, and potentially the whole neighbourhood, while evading the wrath of his father. The majority of the game's multimedia are derived from vector graphics taken from OpenClipart and sound effects taken from SoundBible. Contributions to this project, or the creation of other entities for the Indie Games project, are more then welcome.

XEvil is a free software platform arena game first released by Steve Hardt at M.I.T on July 26, 1994 over the Project Athena network. Structured as a free-for-all deathmatch between a wide variety of characters with differing traits and abilities, players are pitted against each other or computer controlled bots. Described as "one of the most graphically violent games ever made", the game's website features a tongue-in-cheek disclaimer over its potential offensiveness; the premise has players compete for their rank in hell. Originally developed for Unix systems using the X Windows System, it was later ported to Microsoft Windows systems using DirectX featuring sounds and music. Both versions were released under the GNU General Public License version 2 or later on January 18, 2000. Version 1.5.5 was included on the 100 Great Linux Games and version 1.0.0 on the Linux Cubed Series 8 LINUX Games shovelware collections. Versions were also included on Linux Games++ and the Red Hat Powertools.

Fight or Perish is a dungeon crawler game inspired by the Atari 8-bit game Dandy, better known as the inspiration for Gauntlet, started by New Breed Software. The game is intended to support four players that explore dungeons while avoiding creeping enemies.

Bombs can be used to destroy enemies, doors need keys to be unlocked and food and treasure can be collected. There are four different characters in the game, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.[35]

The game was left in a primitive alpha stage and was only available in Linux compatible source code.[36] Dennis Payne has taken over maintenance and improvements.[37]

Build'N'Buy is inspired by the Big Sales at Build Mart team-based speed building game in Minecraft championships.[38] There is a building area where the player can see an object which is to be copied—by similar building methods to those in Minetest Game or other Minecraft-type games—and a shopping area. A player buys blocks in the shopping mall and must build the target object exactly before proceeding to the next object.

Wasted is a free game. This means that the source code and media files are available to be studied, modified, and distributed. Most projects look for help with testing, documentation, graphics, etc., as well.

Wasted started as a way to fill the space left by GTA SAMP Derby Destruction minigame servers, a vehicle-combat gamemode that was unfortunately not so popular anymore among Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas players. The game started as a fork of Yorg: a pretty car racing game made in Python made by Flavio Calva. But soon we realized something else was needed for the project.

A loose team from around the world was formed while building the tools for a new game. Namely: CrystalTheEevee, who added car designs, and Spongycake, who supported gameplay. SuperTuxKart was declared as the game's new base of development. Franz's reason was tied to the fact SuperTuxKart had an impressive toolset offering solid coding and testing environments. However, as a new derby mode was introduced, Wasted began to deviate from SuperTuxKart.

Wasted now is a complete hard fork of SuperTuxKart and it has almost nothing else to do with the original game nowadays.
